I’m sure I’m not the only one excited for fall. Hoodies, crisp air, and apples! Yum! Every year we go apple picking and usually come back with a few bushels. There are a million ways to use them and they’re all delicious! Some of the things I make are applesauce, baked apples, apple pie rice pudding, and this easy apple tart. It only has 5 ingredients!
Ingredients for my easy apple tart:
- 2 cups of graham cracker crust mix
- ¾ cup of melted butter
- 6 apples sliced
- 2 tablespoons of caramel sauce
- whipped cream for garnish
See? Only 5 ingredients, including the garnish. I love it when recipes are this simple to put together! You could whip up an easy apple tart in an afternoon before the kids get home from school. Hello, Supermom!
This recipe is also a dessert favorite in my house. I make it a lot with Easy Instant Pot Pork Chops and Rice and Easy Instant Pot Swedish Meatballs.

Directions for Easy Apple Tart:
Mix graham cracker mix and butter until a thick mixture has formed. Graham cracker mix is simply crushed graham crackers and a little bit of sugar. It’s even easier to buy the premade graham cracker crust.
Press into a pie plate. If I’m not using a pre-made crust, I like to use either a tin because it’s prettier or a clear glass Pyrex pie plate because then I can see what’s going on as things are baking.
Cut the apples thinly and arrange them in the plate. I suggest standing them up and just alternating which direction they are facing. This is also the method I use for apple pie. If you don’t do it this way, you end up with a lot of empty space where there is no apple. I like my apple dishes to be full of apples!
Drizzle the caramel sauce over the top of the tart. You can make an easy brown sugar caramel sauce like I do for my baked apples, or you can buy the jarred stuff. If it’s apple season I usually have some on hand. As much as it’s tempting to use more than a little bit, caramel sauce tends to burn easily so a little bit goes a long way.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes and sit back and smell your amazing house!
Side note: Did you know that one of the tricks real estate agents use to sell houses is to bake apple goods right before people come over? The smell of apples in the oven triggers something in a person’s brain and they’re more likely to buy the house. Easy apple tart for two is the perfect thing to bake when you’re showing your home!
Can I use a regular pie crust?
You can use whatever pie crust you want to – I really like the graham cracker crust but you can also use homemade or the pre-made kind in the tube in the grocery store.
How long can I store the tart for?
The tart is good for about three days in the refrigerator. Anything after that and it will get too liquid-y. Unless you live alone (and even if you do), I highly doubt that this tart will last long enough to worry about it!
Can I freeze Easy Apple Tart?
You can freeze the tart, but it’s always better fresh. If you do freeze it, I suggest using one of those vacuum sealers to make sure that you don’t get any freezer burn. If you’ve used a disposable pie tin, you don’t even have to take it out of the pan to freeze!
What are the best apples to use?
You can use any apples, really. Gala and Granny Smith are my favorites to bake with. Gala is much sweeter than Granny Smith, but Granny Smith is a lot harder of an apple and will keep its form better than any other kind. I’ve also used Macintosh, Empire, and Golden delicious to make apple treats. Red delicious is definitely delicious, but a little bit too soft for baking in my opinion. I use that one to make applesauce sometimes.
How do I choose the best apples?
I live in Upstate New York, so apple picking is a common thing. There are orchards everywhere, and if you have a child you will definitely be taking a field trip to one!! If you are picking apples, pick from as high as you can and get the ones with no dents or bruises. You want apples that are ripe but not too ripe or they will rot quickly.
