Cauliflower is my favorite vegetable. The flavor is so mild that you can really do a lot with it – mash it, rice it, douse it in buffalo wing sauce, make pizza crust…the list goes on and on. The easiest way to enjoy cauliflower is to steam it; and of course I do that using my Instant Pot. Instant Pot Steamed Cauliflower is delicious, nutritious, and tastes great with just a little bit of salt and pepper.
How to Steam Cauliflower in the Instant Pot:
First, cut the cauliflower into florets and wash it good. It’s much easier to wash the cauliflower after it’s cut because then you know you’re getting all the dirt out.
Place the steamer basket into the Instant Pot and add the florets.
Using the manual high pressure function, set the Instant Pot for 1 minute.
Quick release the pressure when time is up.
Season with salt and pepper, chili flakes, herbs, and/or parmesan cheese for a tasty treat.

How to Choose the Freshest Cauliflower
Fresh cauliflower comes in all sorts of shapes and colors, but there are a few rules that stay the same. First, the cauliflower’s leaves should be firm and not wilty.
Second, cauliflower with dark spots on it is starting to go bad and should be avoided. This is hard to find in the grocery store, but if you choose organic, you have a better chance of finding one. In worst case scenarios, buy the one with only one or two spots and then cut them off. Better yet, grow your cauliflower in a garden if possible!
Health Benefits of Cauliflower:
Cauliflower is a very nutrient dense food
One serving contains 77% of your daily Vitamin C requirement. We all know what Vitamin C does. It boosts our immunity. So including cauliflower in your diet makes you less susceptible to nasty colds.
Instant Pot Steamed Cauliflower is also rich in minerals like magnesium, potassium, and phosphorous. Steaming the cauliflower preserves these minerals so that you get the full benefit.
Cauliflower is an important part of a low carb diet.
The cool thing about steamed cauliflower is that you can do all sorts of things to it, like rice it or mash it to replace foods high in gluten and carbohydrates. Cauliflower crust pizza is so popular that many Italian restaurants are now offering it as an option.
Cauliflower is also high in antioxidants.
Antioxidants protect your body from free radicals – the nasty things that cause aging and some cancers. The fiber content in cauliflower can help to prevent colon cancer.
Cauliflower is also a great source of choline, which is basically brain food. It helps to prevent serious disorders of the brain and the nervous system, such as dementia and Alzheimer’s. Choline also helps your liver regulate cholesterol, which in turn helps to prevent heart disease.
Cauliflower is a great source of Vitamin K, which is essential for healthy blood vessels. Vitamin K and vitamin K2 found in cauliflower increases blood clotting and promotes bone health. Both Vitamin K and Vitamin C increase cell turnover, new cell creation, and improve cell communication for stronger, healthier bones.
Healthier skin and nails
Instant Pot Steamed Cauliflower also contains Sulforaphane, which is essential for healthy skin and hair. This nutrient increases hair growth and keeps damage at bay. It also protects your skin from the free radicals caused by sunburn.
There are so many crazy health benefits to eating Instant Pot Steamed Cauliflower that I could go on and on all day, but instead I’ll just suggest that you add it to your diet – your entire body will thank you!
