Quick and Easy Chili Cheese Fries

I love it when football season comes around because we are all about the food! One of my favorite game day foods is chili cheese fries. Earlier this week, we had a “fry night”. I made a huge batch of fries and then we all added toppings to suit. Who doesn’t love french fries with toppings? Chili Cheese Fries were on the menu of course!

(This post uses affiliate links. They don’t cost you anything extra to use, but they help keep fries in my freezer! Thank you in advance for your support.)

We had just come back from gymnastics and it was already late to begin cooking, so I took the quickest, easiest way out.  Usually, we throw the fries in the deep fryer. This time, I just baked them for simplicity’s sake. It’s faster to throw a bag of fries on a sheet pan and go. These turned out pretty delicious and crispy even in the oven. When they came out, I just put them on plates without salt.

Because it was a night of convenience, we went with pre-made items. I had some frozen chili that I threw in the microwave along with a can of queso blanco. When they were nice and hot, I poured them on top of my fries. You could cheat and use canned chili too, but I’m the queen of frozen leftovers.

Then my youngest daughter decided that she wanted to share my plate of food instead of eating her own. So I left the salsa and sour cream on the side for dipping. If I wasn’t sharing, I’d have poured them right on top too. And maybe some guac.

(Side note: Squeeze sour cream is THE BEST. None of that watery gross stuff. )

I managed to get a few bites of hers, but I was pretty much on my own. I ended up making some loaded pepperoni pizza fries for myself, which were AMAZING too! I’ve been thinking of a million other ways to do fries since then, though, so stay tuned! I’ll be adding more ideas over the next few months!

Other people ask:

What are some other toppings I can put on fries?

There really are so many that I can’t list them all. Think about your favorite food and top your fries with it. Some other ideas are bacon, cheese, and taco sauce, and there are even some people who like chocolate on their fries! *I am not one of them.*

Can I make the fries in the air fryer?

You definitely can! As a matter of fact, air fryer french fries are delicious! They come out crispy just like from a regular fryer without all of the grease. Perfect for those watching their waistline.

How do you store the fries?

Honestly, I’d recommend only making what you plan on using. Anything else can be refrigerated, but french fries will be limp and soggy when reheated.

How do I set up a french fry bar?

Setting up a french fry bar is easy. All you have to do is set out a platter of french fries and bowls of toppings. Think taco fries, loaded baked potato fries, broccoli cheese fries, and cheesy ranch fries for example!
You might want to ask your guests ahead of time what their favorite foods are. There isn’t much that can’t be combined with french fries!
