If you’ve been invited to a Fourth of July picnic or backyard barbecue, this is the post for you! I’ve got a quick and easy dessert recipe idea that will have your friends and family ooh-ing and aah-ing all afternoon! And when I say quick and easy I mean it – the kids can even help! It comes together in about 10 minutes from marshmallows to plate. Check out my Patriotic Rice Krispie Treat Recipe below.

We start with the classic Rice Krispie Treat recipe:

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 package Marshmallows
  • 6 cups of Rice Krispies

Then add sprinkles!

I found these star sprinkles on Amazon. I used about 3 tablespoons. You can use more or less depending on how you feel!

The directions call for melting the butter and the marshmallows in a double boiler, but this lady has no time for that. So I threw it in the microwave for 3 minutes. I got nice puffy but melted marshmallows.

Next, I added the rice krispies and the sprinkles.

Stir star sprinkles into delicious red white and blue rice krispie treat batter

I folded that in nicely and pressed into a 9×13 baking dish.

Then I waited about an hour before beginning to slice.

Look at this ooey gooey goodness!

When they are sliced, serve or cover in an air tight container immediately. Add a little red and blue sanding sugar to your patriotic rice krispie treat recipe for flair if you’d like.

And that’s all there is to it! I love a quick and easy recipe that feeds a crowd! This Patriotic Rice Krispie Treat Recipe makes one 9×13 pan. If you want more, I suggest doing the recipe twice rather than doubling it. The cereal and marshmallows can be difficult to mix if there is too much of it!

Feeling patriotic? Why not wear this Patriotic Korker bow in your hair too?
